Jensen, McElrea, Thomas Depart TDS Racing After Wildly Successful Run

Major changes are coming to TDS Racing this offseason as their entire driver lineup is set to turnover following their successful 2025 campaign, according to all three drivers currently in their stable.

Following their victory at Petit Le Mans which delivered TDS their second-consecutive LMP2 Michelin Endurance Cup crown, the trio of Mikkel Jensen, Hunter McElrea and Steven Thomas revealed they will all depart from the team this off-season. The Bronze-rated Thomas actually let the cat out of the bag himself first during an in-race interview that PLM would be his last event with the team and likely the last for his competitive racing career at this point in time.

The news means that the FIA Platinum-rated Jensen is set to hit the free agent driver market, which is a development that's sure to bring a ton of attention to fellow prototype teams hoping to secure his talents for 2026. Jensen has managed to balance the responsibilities of running two full-season campaigns in the WeatherTech series as well as the WEC with the No. 93 Peugeot 9x8. Peugeot themselves are already in the process of revamping their driver lineup for 2026 with changes coming to the No. 94 car, yet no word has come of what will come of the trio of Jean-Éric Vergne, Paul di Resta and Jensen in the sister car. Even if Peugeot don't opt for changes in the No. 93 and keep things status quo there, Jensen has proven he can score championship-winning results while running dual campaigns across the globe.

Jensen and Thomas had been partners in crime the last three seasons, while McElrea joined the group in 2024. The win at Road Atlanta capped a wildly successful partnership from all involved going back to the start of 2024, as funny enough, TDS ended their 2025 run the exact same way as they did in 2024 - by winning at Indy and Road Atlanta to close out the season and securing the MEC at Petit Le Mans for the second straight season, and both times at the expense of Inter Europol. Things that make you go 'whoa.'

In total, TDS posted four race wins, eight total podiums and the dual MEC championships the last two seasons, while also finishing P2 in the Drivers' and Teams' championships in 2025.

Lastly for McElrea, could more time in IndyCar be in the cards, or similar to Jensen, could he land with another LMP2 team eager to fill our their lineup with an experienced prototype talent? It remains to be seen.
