Samantha Tan and STR Not Expected To Run GT World Challenge America For 2025

The initial entry list for the 2025 GT World Challenge America season was released on Wednesday and there was a notable absentee from the group.

Samantha Tan and ST Racing were not listed on the entry list preview, and on the Double Stint Podcast from SportsCar365.com's John Dagys released on Tuesday, Dagys commented quickly that he's not expecting to see ST Racing on the World Challenge America grid this season.

There has yet to be an any official comment from Tan or her team.

Tan and STR have elevated their operation in 2025 to enter into the revamped VP SportsCar Challenge in the new GTDX class in a solo effort. With STR's strong performance through the first two races of the season it's easy to see the scenario where Tan is ready to focus on going all-in for the VP SportsCar Challenge season after accomplishing just about everything she could in the SRO ranks with multiple race wins and various championships.

Tan currently ranks first for GTDX Bronze drivers and P4 in the overall standings through the two races.

It's a shame for the SRO series to lose Tan and the talents of her team, yet even still, those 19 confirmed entries for Week 1 at Sonoma is an awesome showing of what's to come for the series this season. It's also a massive difference from what we saw at the beginning of last season when just 12 cars rolled off the grid to start things off, with just three of those cars serving in the Pro ranks.

Already locked in for 2025 are top teams such as Racers Edge, DXDT, RS1, Random Vandals, AF Corse, Turner Motorsports and Flying Lizard just to name a few. There are more entries expected to come as we get deeper into the season.

Rounds 1 & 2 at Sonoma Raceway, California goes down on the last weekend of March.
