IMSAs 2026 Calendar Reveal Highlighted By 6 Hour Enduro At Road America
For the second year in a row IMSA has pulled the curtain back on their future endeavors ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring set for this weekend - news that is highlighted by something 99.9% of fans have been hoping to hear for years now.
The 2026 calendar was unveiled by IMSA on Thursday, and although we won't see an expansion of total races for the season, there is the significant upgrade of the IMSA SportsCar Weekend event at Road America, which has been elevated from a 2:40 sprint race to a six hour enduro.
The move will see the Battle on the Bricks at Indy move back to a sprint race.
A ton of credit is deserved for John Doonan and the rest of the IMSA brain trust for delivering in so many areas for fans these last three years. They're on a serious stretch of giving the fans what we're asking for in terms of securing cars/drivers/teams on the grid, staging great experiences at the track and increasing the exposure of the sport via social media, YouTube and accessibility (yes it can be better with more coverage on NBC/TV, but the overall point remains that it's never been easier to consume IMSA content than it's been these last 30+ months).
We just covered this week the potential avenues for expansion moving forward, and IMSA were on the same page as basically everyone else in elevating Road America to an endurance round rather than a sprint.
