Reports: Ford Is Well On Their Way To Developing LMDh Protoype Entry

Multiple reports have detailed this week that Ford is well on their way to unveiling plans for an LMDh protype racer of their own in the near future.

Marshall Pruett of Racer.com pulled the lid back last Thursday of the behind-the-scenes work Ford has already put together detailing that the American manufacturer is "actively exploring the formation of another sports car engagement with a factory prototype initiative that would comply with LMDh regulations."

Pruett highlights the creation of the Mustang GT3 car as a catalyst to the allure of pairing their worldwide GT effort with an endurance prototype machine, which is the exact same path that other brands have gone down as they align themselves with a GT and LMDh/Hypercar pairing for the different racing series across the world, highlighted obviously by the IMSA WeatherTech Championship and the World Endurance Championship.

Pruett also tabs 2027 as a likely debut window for the Ford LMDh program.

If this is the case - and come on let's be real if this much information and speculation is coming out now you might as well take it to the bank and cash that check - the hype and attention on this side of the racing aisle will continue to grow to new heights, and it's no surprise that another major brand wants in on the action, never mind one that has the racing history that Ford does. Let's make it happen!
