Hyundai Pulls the Curtain Back on LMDh Program - Genesis Magma Racing

Another worst-kept-secret has proven to be true - Hyundai have entered into the prototype racing game.

Announced Wednesday over in Dubai, Hyundai officially unveiled their brand new prototype machine - the GMR-001, set for it's racing debut in the World Endurance Championship for the 2026 season.

A year after that in 2027, the GMR-001 will make it's debut in North America for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship in the GTP class.

In the biggest surprise of the whole reveal, veteran racers/mutli-time champions Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani were the first drivers to be selected for the program, and they'll play a direct role in the the year-long run-up of the car leading into their debut in the WEC in 15 months.

There was no announcement for who will pilot the GTP car in IMSA in the far away two-ish years time between now and then.

The South Korean brand partnered with Oreca to develop the chassis for the GMR-001 and in doing so becomes the ninth brand projected to be on the '26 Hypercar grid. That number can grow to 11 if Lamborghini figure their shit out and return with their SC63, while the rumors that Mercedes will also join in on the fun will likely only intensify in the coming months.

The car is undoubtably stunning - check out the pictures below:
