Stevan McAleer announces departure from RS1, Porsche

Veteran GT driver Steven McAleer is ready for the next chapter in his racing career.

Posted to his Instagram account over the weekend, McAleer announced that he's wrapping up a three-year run with Porsche outfit Rennsport One, a run that produced plenty of success in IMSA as well as a pair of championships in the SRO ranks - first in 2022 in GT4 America and then in GT World Challenge America last season.

McAleer and co-driver Trent Hindman had a strong 2024 campaign in Michelin Pilot Challenge for the No. 28 as they fought Team TGM for the GS championship all the way down to the season finale at Petit Le Mans, ultimately coming up just short and finishing P2 in the standings. The year prior, McAleer and then co-pilot Eric Filgueiras put together a solid run through the MPC season and finished fourth in the standings.

McAleer added that his future plans will keep him in IMSA next season with another team on the grid, as well as a new manufacturer.

The Scotsman also ran with the No. 66 Gradient Racing Acura NSX alongside Sheena Monk in GTD this season, with a P3 finish at Road America serving as the highlight of the year for the team (remember those last few laps of chaos?) With already knowing that Gradient will be switching rides to the Ford Mustang GT3 as they move on from the NSX, could McAleer stick with Gradient and ride with the Mustang? Sounds like a great idea to me personally.
